As employers across the country continue to seek support and guidance, we want to make you aware of resources available that can help you and your small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers manage cash flow, take care of employees going through termination, furlough, reduced hours, or adapted working conditions—and navigate uncertain futures. We also want to share what we/re learning about impacts to SMBs and how you can take action today.

Managing cash flow
We’ve developed two tools to help you and your customers simplify the relief programs available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act:

  • Use the CARES Act decision guide with customers to walk through available options based on their business situation.
  • Use the CARES Act calculators to help them determine the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan-size eligibility and potential forgiveness amount, as well as the estimated Employee Retention Credit.

Extending coverage for employees
Employees no longer employed may receive benefits through portability, conversion, or COBRA. We have resources for customers and their employees that outline the benefit options available after their employment ends. Any employee no longer eligible for group benefits due to reduced hours or furlough/layoff from March 1 – May 31, 2020, may continue coverage for 90 days if premiums are paid. Reinstating coverage
Employers who have recently terminated, furloughed, or reduced hours for employees—and bring back employees within six months—can by-pass waiting periods and reinstate coverage with their previously approved benefit level. Share more employer FAQs with customers
